3,000 hits in itself is a bench-mark for HOF status, let alone the number of times he's won the MVP,
But, I'm ready for it....lets hear the new excuse about how much Bonds is a cheater and his stats should be erased from the record books.

Chipmaker - You stole the thoughts right out of my head.
I can only hope that some people can see through the smear campaign that ESPN and other leading sports media outlets have against Barry Bonds.
I, for years, couldnt stand Roger Clemens. Then one day I happened to look at his stats and it was like a fog had been lifted. I said "This guy is an amazing pitcher".
It doesnt matter if Barry is a jerk to the media...was he ever a jerk to you? If the answer is no, then don't take it personally when he doesnt want to talk to reporters, or snaps at them when they press him for answers.
We are watching history, people!!!! Just sit back and enjoy the show. Dont be-little Barry's accomplishments because ESPN told you that he is a jerk.

Kidding, right? The haters don't yet realize it, but when 2008 rolls around and Bonds starts getting really close to 3000, they'll find renewed vigor for their witch hunting. "Bonds duznt deserve 3000 hist!" they will declare. Denied their home run record campaign, since that'll be long past, they'll be back for round two.
The haters will screech and whine and loudmouth the whole time, giving no peace to baseball fans, and becoming increasingly tiresome and irrelevant.
Bonds will roll on past 3000, and they'll switch from "he duznt deserve it" to "now 3000 hit sis wattered dwon". It'd be funny if it wasn't so pathetic and so worn-out.
And they'll be back again when he gets on his first Hall ballot.
And when Rodriguez makes his assault on the Ruth, Aaron, and ultimately Bonds marks.
Hatred is inherently irrational. Therefore don't ever expect the haters to behave rationally. They don't need reasons, just excuses, and they've focused on Bonds and everything he will ever do.

No! No matter what Bonds does he's still a jerk. His fate is yet to be determined, in possible legal proceedings . If he's officially found to use steriods, he will be shunned by the Hall of Fame. If not, he may be voted in the Hall, but not on the first ballot. His fate, as well as Mark McGwire's, Sammy Sosa's and Rafael Palmeiro's, is subject to endless debate.

Steroids or not he is one of the greatest hitters of all time. The haters were all cheering like crazy for McGwire when he was setting the single season record and McGwire certainly had the look of someone who bulked up on steroids. A lot of these pro athletes use it or have used it. Bonds gets singled out because he has been a jerk to the media and so they are a jerk to him and public opinions follows.

Nope.
He was a HOFer well before the steroid allegations, but this just makes things look cloudy. Presumably he'll get in, but maybe on try #2.

The answer by Sag is the dumbest i've ever seen in relation to Bonds' records. You obviously know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about baseball f ag. oops, I mean sag.
If he hadn't of played in Candlestick, and now At&t, he would have 1000 hr. He has played the majority of his career in EXTREME pitchers parks. That's what makes his accomplishments so amazing.

Hits are hits...gotta be able to make contact. That's fine. Homeruns are completely different. IF I pumped roids and had a custom made ballpark with the shortest right field fence in the majors, I would could be chasing the home run record myself.

It doesn't matter what he does, it won't change the perception that he used steroids.

There is no new excuse. It has nothing to do with what he accomplishes that he shouldn't be in the HOF...its that he cheated. See Pete Rose.
