So the other night I got off the highway and was taking a left off the ramp and heard a horrible metal grinding sound coming from my front drivers side wheel. It only does it when I am taking a slow left turn or sharp turn (like into a parking space.) I'm pretty sure it's my wheel bearings bc I just had the tire rodes replaced last year, otherwise my car works great, so I don't think its the axle/brakes. Anyone have any idea how much this might cost to fix OR if it could be something else? If it's the wheel bearings I'm going to fix them both at the same time, so if you give pricings ideas please concider that. Thanks!

may want to have the cv joint/axle on that side checked aswell. usually if it is the wheel bearing....it will make a sqealing sound constantly, not just in turns from my experiance. I had both joints and axles in the front end of my ex-wife's 95 saturn coupe replaced in summer 05' i did the work, but the parts ran me 250.

I second the CV axle. When you turn you're putting more strain on the CV axle because it has to transfer load over a steeper angle. I especially think it's the CV axle because you're having problems on the INSIDE tire while turning, not the OUTSIDE. When making a left hand turn, less force is applied to the ground on the left side of the car becuase the weight shifts to the right, so the wheel bearing is actually under less load in this condition.

Your CV's if going bad will make a clicking noise not a grinding noise I know lost a set, grinding is more likely the brakes, in this instance the inside brake pads, pull the tire look behind and see if I am wrong. Question has there been a squealing the last few weeks? that would of been your chirpers warning you. If not a stone might be caught in your brake pads.

You'd better have the entire front suspension, brakes and drive axles inspected soon. It could be several different things making the noise and none of them are good. Get it checked tomorrow.
