The creative mind? Well I for one do not believe it is a blank canvas. I believe that everything is already nestled some where in your mind, and when you find your inspiration (whether its someone, something or a moment captured in time) everything spews out of you like a flood that takes over every part of you until you are utterly consumed with the thought and have to channel it all down on an easel or a piece of paper of even you laptop.
Everything we think or ever will think is based on things that we have ever encountered in our loves. We make subconscious connections to objects, places, people without even knowing it. We only know that what we are thinking is beautiful and unique and must be taken down in history before it is forgot from our memories....
.....Well, that's my opinion anyway.

My description of a creative mind would not include the blank imagery. A creative mind is curious enough to have sought inspiring images to populate its own expanse.
A creative mind is unfulfilled with easy explanations and mandated realities. A creative mind is alert enough to be aware of new relevancies, yet calm enough to allow ideas and concepts to drift and swirl. A creative mind is confident without contentment.

Creative minds are always open to seeing what is beyond the obvious. They don't settle for "pat answers" but examine each situation, thing, etc for what might lie just on the other side of what is accepted. Inventors don't believe they "can't."
As far as art, creative writing, music etc. People strive to express their souls longings, joy, sorrow, pain, happiness through the medium of their choice. It's to share that which lies inside, they try to recreate those feelings through their art.

Someone who can think of things in a different way. To be able to look at something from a rare perspective is creative.

Great question! A creative mind is a curious mind..... a Socratic muscle workout. It's a mind that finds joy in "what if?"
