Try wiping and reinstalling the OS. But you probably ought to just get a new comptuer at this point.

Well, if you already did that, I don't know how to help you. Get a new computer.

One thing I can tell you is that a Compaq Deskpro will not like the idea of playing videos, because if it has a PII processor, which all of them that I've ever dealt with do, they are generally too slow for that. I also would suggest is to try installing a different hard drive. Another thing I would try is to put Windows XP Home Edition on it, because most programs meant for Win98 and up are not meant for Windows NT, which is what Win2K was built upon. I have had the same problem before with trying to install programs on my Win2K system. As far as programs taking a long time to load, I would also try putting more memory in, which can help speed things up a bit.

you NEED to reformat again , and this time do an extended version of the reformat and write every thjing to zeros. it takes a long time , but other than that , you may as well pitch that POS.

The computer isn't stupid, it does exactly what you tell it to do.

Try installing W2K again, this time do a Clean Install.

When done, install the motherboard drivers and everything will work. You didn't do this, did you???
