There are several cultivars of escallonia. Depending on the cultivar they are self limiting from about 3ft to about 8ft. Ask at the nursery where you purchase your plants which cultivar(s) they have and then select according to your needs. They're a great choice as a hedge shrub and as a stand-alone decorative shrub. They bloom on both new and one-wood so it is common to have 2 bloomings per year.

Escallonia bushes grow 8' high, and about the same width..They enjoy a sunny position, and should be protected from winds etc.Very tolerant of salt laden winds, and reasonably fast growth rate. Allow 8-10ft between shrubs. Good Luck!
