Anime characters with different color hair are more popular and stand out more to Japnese viewers, as everyone in Japan has black hair. Also, Sakura is another name for a cherry blossom, which are pinkish when they blossom and fall off (not as pink as her hair, but close enough)

It's because Sakura in japanese means "Cherry Blossom" which is a Japanese flower thats pink.

i agree with the Brian guy that sakura means cherry blossom and a cherry blossom is pink ..........i might be wrong on that though

because Sakura Haruno means cherry flower, and the cherry flower is pink to red..and thats why she has pink hair

alot of anime has weird hair colors. Naruto has blonde hair, was born as a blonde, and he's japanese!!! Alot of anime has green hair, such as Kaiba from Yugioh in the early episodes in japan, and Yugi with his wild spikey hair.

i kinda boring to see all characters in same hair color (cause japanese originally hair color is black or dark brown)
