I was living in the UK, and my English flatmate came home that Sunday morning from spending the night with her boyfriend, she woke me up at 9.00am to tell me the news. I didn't believe her, so we turned on the news and just watched it all day!!

I was having breakfast in Gibraltar. I stayed an extra 2 weeks to avoid the sycophantic nonsense that i knew would greet the occasion.

Does no one else remember how vilified she was in the press, and how the British public were blaming her for her playgirl life style? Funny how malleable memories are!

I was sitting on a bar stool at my local sports bar around 10 PM (est) for a night cap after work. We all knew each other, laughing and having a good time.

When the news bulletin came on the TV, we all just got up and left to go home, not saying a word for fear we would all break down in tears. The burly butch straight guys and me (the fairy).

We were all secretly in love with her; yes even me.

Such a tragedy, but the world has to be thankful we had her; even if for such a brief time.

I was at home and my sister called me to tell me to turn on cnn. I couldn't believe it then and it saddends me to this day....I was physically ill for weeks, I know alot of people feel the same way...still can't get over how much grief was experienced. Such a strange feeling...being grief stricken but at the same time I felt that it was presumptuous of me to feel that way.... If anyone reading this does take anything from my response, please if you have the chance to do something that feels right in your soul, do it! I had the chance to bring my children to see the Princess at Sudbury regional Airport in 1993. My boss told me if I took the time off I would lose my job. I'll always regret this chance I had. Many jobs but only 1 Diana...blessings

My auntie was in America at the time and woke my grandparents up early hours in the morning to tell them that Dianna had been in an accident. At this point she had not died. I went back to sleep (after trying hear what was being said downstairs and failing sleepily) not thinking anymore of it. Around 5 something in the morning we had another phone call from my auntie. This time she was telling my grandparents that lady Dianna had died. Me being lazy, and I suppose a bit selfish stayed in bed not knowing all this had happened. When I got up around 7ish, I turned on the telly, and on every chanel was the accident. All that I could think of was her two boys. It was very sad.

We were on holiday in Malta and we could get ITV on the cable channel in our apartment. We got up on that Sunday morning and for some reason GMTV was on. I was alone in the lounge and I realised they were just going on and on about Diana. I shouted to the rest of the family "something's happened to Princess Diana" - they all came in to see what was going on, and I realised she was dead just as they came into the room. We were all stunned. The lovely Maltese guy on the reception desk was in tears.

Well my then girlfriend and I were in bed, but we were not sleeping, when her sister came in and to say that Diana was dead.

We stopped what we were doing to watch the news unfolding.

Now on nearly the 10th aniversary of Diana's death, the same girl is now my wife and our eldest son is 9 years old, as a result of what we were doing on the night we found out about Diana.

I was fourteen at the time and at home with my parents we saw it on the news it was awful. I think Diana would be proud of her boys and she should be after her death and all that has happened since her boys seem to have dealt with it extremely well. I dont think i could have done the same

It's funny you should ask that....I was just thinking about that a while ago....I was in the Missouri Department of Corrections, living at the "Walls" unit. It was just about 11:00 PM when the current episode of "Star Trek: Voyager" was interrupted. I was lying on my bunk and I remember hearing a whole bunch of guys down the walk talking about it for a long time that night.
