Um, literature isn't about making people happy. Not every hero comes out of the battle without a scratch in real life, so consequently that also happens in books.

It was book six, not book five. And she really needed to give Harry more reason to rely on himself. Order of the Phoenix Dumbledore came to Harry's rescue in the ministry battle. And he's so far been the only wizard Voldemort is afraid of, meaning Harry could have expected Dumbledore to be there to fight beside him. Malfoy was supposed to kill Dumbledore, but because Snape was watching out for him, he didn't have to entirely rely on himself. Dumbledore was Harry's Snape, so to speak, and now he's gone.

Albus Dumbledore died in book six, Half-Blood Prince, not book five.
Dumbledore was killed, probably because he was in Voldemort's way. Voldemort obviously has been trying to kill Harry for many years, and at the end of book five (when Dumbledore came in the Ministry of Magic, and basically protected Harry), Voldemort probably realized that the only way that he can kill Harry is if Dumbledore is killed.
I could be wrong, and I could be right.
But either way, all of the answers will be answered in book seven.

I think that it shows that Harry needs to do this thing on his own. He has enough info to finally kill Voldy without the help of Dumbledore and Sirius (that's why Sirius died). He is grown up now and doesn't need somebody taking care of him (unless it's Ginny of course but that's a different story).

it is actually very simple. dumbledore was always there for harry and continued to save the world. if you were to step back and look at everything, u would see that the real hero in the book was dumbledore. while he was a very good character, he was stealing harry's glory. also, in the 7th book, do you think that the author would want dumbledore to trail after harry and his friends? because if he lived thats exactly what he woulda done in the seventh book while harry was tryng to save the world.

Please, if you're going to ask questions like this, just spell the names right. It's Dumbledore, not dumbledor. And it was in book 6 that he died, not 5.
On answering your question, however, she said she killed off Dumbledore because she needs Harry to learn to rely on himself instead of the adults for a bit.

It was discovered that Dumbledore was Voldemort's father so he had to die; then Harry Potter kills himself after Draco Malroy marries Hermione. Ron Weasley kills Voldermort and Draco divorces Hermione after their baby is born with bright red hair. Hogwarts gets converted into a condominium and Hagrid becomes an alcoholic in Diogon alley.

Jo never does these things lightly. I think she is killing off Harry's father figures so he will be strong enough to fight on his own.

anyways J.K Rowling has a reason for everything. she said that all the unanswered questions will be answered so (if its possible) you'll be kinda glad he died
at least he died in sort of a noble way.
