Not all of them do. Check out Philip Rivers #17, Vince Young #10, Tom Brady #12, Jason Campbell #17, Jake Delhomme #17, Damon Huard #11, Brad Johnson #14, Eli Manning #10, Peyton Manning #18, Chad Pennington #10, Alex Smith #11
It does seem like most have single digits, and this year 7, 8, 9 seem to be most popular. The NFL like NCAA and most high schools designates certain numbers to be for certain positions. 1-20 have always been QB numbers. Other positions have used those numbers as well.

Because they don't. Tom Brady wears #12. They're are others that wear double digits as well. It may seem that QB's only wear single digit numbers because a lot of them do, but not all of them do.

No QBs can wear numbers 1-19. The NFL have strict rules on player numbers. Thats why Reggie Bush cant wear 5 because its a QB number...

Golly, gee, Andy, they don't! Go back a bit and I believe Elwood Petchel was number 41! And most PSU players at QB are in the teens. Can be any number up to 49!
