If you don't have a cherry/olive pitter, than you can use a plastic straw. Just poke it in one end and then the other and the pit will pop out. And it does work, becuase I had a bunch of cherries that I bought from a roadside stand and this is the method I used!
Hope you make something tasty with them. I made cobbler with mine, yum!

Do like my mother and I did one year - the hard way and hand cut out all of the pits. I don't know of an easier way to go about doing this.
By the time we were finished it looked like we had done something bad because our fingernails were very red. But it was fun over all.
Perhaps you can get a friend or two to help you and then make several pies to celebrate your huge task.

the hard way is with a knife, or you can spit them out like watermelon seeds, but the really cool way is to go to a specialty kitchen store and get an olive/cherry pitter- they look like a bit hole punch, just stick the cherry in and give it a squeeze and pop goes the pit.

You have to pit each one, one at a time.
Your hands are going to be stained for the next five years. You will smell like a cherry.
You have a very boring job ahead of you.
Poor lady.
