I think that anyone who believes the Bible is the complete & unabridged word of God is an idolater. Because that belief limits God to the words contained in the Bible and thus offends God's divinity, since divinity by definition must transcend worldly things like words and books and stories.
Idolatry means that you take something that *refers* to something about God - nothing about God, by the way, can be directly represented on Earth, because God = divine, so "the word of God" is a metaphor - and you lose sight of the fact that it is only a *way* to understand God, and you begin to insist that it literally embodies the divine or the divine will. Biblical fundamentalists do this with the Bible when they say it is the literal word of God. It's a book - a story - a worldly thing, no matter how you slice it, or how good you are at using its content to access the divine.

We do not worship the Bible. There is a difference. Let me ask if you can go a week without reading any words from any source. or liston to a reading, which one do you think will stand out as most desirable reading material, and why? Thank You.

Its stupid. The only good thing about the bible is that it can help make our society more friendly, because of the overwhelming message of brotherhood and love. It shouldn't be worshipped, neither should Jesus/God/Satan be worshipped.
if you meant idolatry, then no, it isn't a way to serve God, because God doesn't exist, (if he would, you should ask him if he thinks your serving him by worshiping the bible :P)

Yes, it seems to fit perfectly in the definition. "Idolitry" probably being short for "idoling literature", and deviating from the more common "idolatry" ; )

Depends on your definition of idolatry. I look at the Bible as the 'inspired word of God,' is that idol worship? From my definition of idolatry I say no it isn't. For me its faith pure and simple. But I do see and understand your point, I just don't happen to agree with it, as I said, it depends on how you define the word.
Interesting question BTW!

Since one is supposed to study the bible and not worship it then I would assume it could be seen as a form of idolatry.

Of course one would have to consult with the experts, see above.

You're close, you added an "L" and misplaced an "I."
I think it more a form of Idiotry.
(Don't look for the word anywhere to confirm its existence, I think it further idiotic for people to quibble over words and grammar when they believe in a little old man who lives in the clouds and controls our lives, happiness and death on HIS- feminists, please enter the argument and join the coalition of the witty here -whims.)

It is possible to become caught up with scripture, without understanding the real message, or actually putting it into practice.
