What NeoCons refuse to explain is that these people want us out ... point blank, so if we stayed here we could actually have universal health care, more money for health, space and scientific research

Look the truth is having free time on your hands leads to problems in almost every case .

If you were not busy working all the time and worried about the future what would you be doing .

As they say nothing good happens after 10 o'clock at night .
Trouble begins earlier in the evening when the competition moves from the workplace to the bars and ball fields ,golf and tennis courts for more friendly competition .

SO you see if you stay busy all the time you have no time to plot a bombing or an overthrow of the government or any kind of troublesome behavior that as we all know only causes problems .

We just need to do a little more destruction so the Iraqi people become so busy they have no time to think of getting even with us .

Absolutely not ! Also, if we were to attempt to take that strategy, it wouldnt be much different then "paying them not to kill us". That approach leaves a bad taste in my mouth and feels a lot like a limp handshake. However, for those who thought in grade school that the best way of defending themselves against a bully was to give them MORE lunch money, I am sure your concept is an interesting one. It is also important to clarify "human lives" in your question. I dont think people realize that we cannot go to war with anyone with the idea of how do we save "THEIR" lives. It is "OUR" lives that I am concerned about, not the lives of the terrorists or the people in these foreign countries that allow them to run amok. Can you imagine what would happen if we allowed our neo-nazi skinheads to travel to other countries and kill jews indiscriminately, while we do nothing to stop them from organizing and training here, using the US as their home base? How much pity do you think jewish folks would have for Americans while we stand by and do nothing while the neo-nazi horde terorizes their communities world-wide. The problem is that no one bothers to note that these terrorists couldnt operate at all if these middle eastern countries would simply police their people effectively. I say if they cant or wont police them, since we are the targets of these criminals, we should then. There would be no war at all, if foreign governments didnt turn a blind eye to, and sometimes outright assist these terrorist criminals.

No, they would pocket that money just like the other corrupt countries that we try to financially save .
Once they build a Government that is for the people and not a group of thieves stealing the money for their own purposes then maybe we can send some aid. But if they get rid of the corruption and dictators, they wont need our help then . Funny how that works.

Thats the old "if we spent it on that instead" routine . You can apply it to any thing like the cost one artillary shell could cure the blindness of a hundred and fifty Africans.
It never stops.
And ploughing money into the economies of people who believe that a free western economy is the work of infidels is a project of madness you have to understand the writings of Sayyid Qubt, and his rantings and ramblings to see for yourself its a lost cause.

Not without pushing towards the following major changes:
1) Education System specially in public schools and other Islamic funded schools, and push towards limit schooling at mosques.
2) Improve human rights standards, help and support all those who stand for free thinking and ask to stop all kinds of harassment against them,
3) stop supporting dictators in the area and shift our attention to people.

Interesting thought.
However, do you truly believe that if we gave money to Saddam's government, for instance, that it would have been utilized to developed a better economy?
I seriously doubt it, considering how the oil riches are so evenly distributed among the peoples in these countries.
Perhaps he would have had matching vanities to go with his gold toilets.
