I always watch the fireworks in San Francisco in one of two places: The Wharf (at the end of Van Ness Ave., near Galileo High School) or in the edge of the Marina district near the north end of the city - which gives you a nice, clear view of the fireworks without buildings in the way. Both places, and pretty much the whole city of SF will be jammed with cars and parking will be a pain in the a*s, but try and get there early, walk around the wharf, eat dinner there and you should be able to find parking without looking for hours. The fireworks start promptly at 9pm, so be sure to be there when it starts - they go on for about 15-20 mins. You gotta see this show at least once - much better than any other city I've watched fireworks in. The reflection off the city buildings and bay water make even more sparkles. Have fun and hope this helps.

p.s. Treasure Island is also a good place to see the fireworks, but you will be a little further away, so you cant see the details as well, or feel the boom of the fireworks as much. But you will NOT have as much trouble finding parking and it is a nice place to relax at.
