64 Bit can run both 64 bit applications and 32 bit application, but it can't run 16 bit applications, while 32 bit can. There's also driver issues with the 64 bit. And they're not going to start making 64 bit only applications, so you might as well save yourself the headaches and get the 32 bit now, and in 3 or 4 years when you get a new computer (assuming you do) get 64 bit then.

For the next year or two, 64-bit vista won't give you too much enhancement. Almost all applications out there right now are 32-bit, so you won't be using the full capabilities. Even Office 2007 is still 32-bit. You may run into some application incompatabilities with 64-bit Windows as well. I would recommend 32-bit for now just for compatibility, unless you have a dire need to operate on more than 4GB of RAM. Even then, I'd consider a dual boot and run 32-bit as primary OS.

Well, you already have the 64 bit processor...so go with 64 bit.

Or, go with 32 bit, and upgrade when the applications follow.

Or, stay with XP for a while, so MS can work out the kinks in Vista.
