Because it's a way of life that is encouraged. So many seem to think that if you continue throwing money at a problem that eventually, the problem will solve itself. It doesn't work that way.
It's like raising kids. If you don't teach them self respect, respect of their elders, respect of their schools and their teachers and then top that off by rewarding them with liberal allowances and anything else they want whenever they whine, you have now created a monster. That monster will end up getting married, won't hold a job, and you will end up with him, his wife and kids living in your basement. And guess what? The person to blame is yourself.
In the case of government entitlement and those who continually take advantage of it and are allowed to. I blame the bleeding hearts.
Same theory. :)

You have got to be by far the most stupid, vile, and ignorant woman I've ever run across in my entire life and I don't think I have ever said that to another individual in my life.
Do you always go around grinning as stupidly as you do as in your photo?
You probably haven't worked a day in your life is my guess. Your husband probably cheats with his secretary, and your kids are probably all spoiled rich brats.
If anyone hasn't said so you are a BIGOT with capitals all the way through lady.
You should be ashamed to call yourself an American.
And where is Eve's post? Let me guess, you can't stand the truth and got her booted. Does that clear your conscience? Well sleep well and pray hubby never dumps you and leaves you penniless.
That lady nailed you perfectly. For anyone to even agree with you is shocking. You must be southerners for sure.
You are pathetic, and I don't think I've ever called anyone that in my life.
I'm sure your rich and bigotted children will go on and spread their love and goodwill much like mommy and daddy did in THEIR city.
What is the name of YOUR city by the way?
I want to make sure I never set a foot in it!!!
(Spitting...you leave a foul taste in my mouth.)
PS: My 3 kids ages 15, 12 and 9 just read your comments, and they want me to tell you that they think you are a bigot as well.

we do need welfare because people do fall on hard times ... would you and your family get by fine if your husband or you lost your job... people do fall on hard times, people get laid off, people get sick, people can't afford health insurance, there are many reasons.. however we do need a reform to make sure the right people get it and not the lady sitting on the couch all day watching a movie and eating Doritos while her kids are off doing who knows what.... it's funny how it works.. the people that pay into the system and need a little help don't get it but the people that don't pay into the system get more help then they need
As far as education.. all children in the US should be offered free education... where would this country be if we did not have free education.. everyone should support our public school system

children don't have a choice what happens to them. if they have bad parents they deserve someone to help them.
the days of families going generation to generation on welfare are over since we now have better time-limits. many young people now want to avoid public assistance and make decent money on their own.
keeping a child in a bad neighborhood with substandard schooling won't teach them good work ethic- or any other ethics

Where DO you get these awful stereotypes??? "Welfare queens"??? Give me a break!
Most people on welfare ARE single moms--but most are "made" single by the husbands who divorce them and leave them in the lurch.
More and more people are becoming poor due to outsourcing, exorbitant health care costs, immoral profit-mongering by oil executives and other corporate thieves. The rich made their money on the backs of and with the lives of, the poor. And now they want to turn their backs on us!!
Do you ever think that YOUR very soul could have been born inside of a poor person? There, but for the grace....etc.

I am sorry that you do not share the world view that the majority of American have that we are all in this together instead of every man for himself. Besides education is the key to not having those welfare kids from turning to crime and braking in your house. I think we should let people like you not pay taxes and you will just get a monthly payment for municipalities without all of us throwing in

"Why should you or I have to raise other people's children either monetarily or by schooling them in my city?"
Only because we "should" care for you when you need caring for.
It depends on your perspective. If you believe we are here to all care for one another OR if you believe we are here to only care for ourselves.
It's not good to be so hard-hearted all the time.

Maybe someday some other person's kid will be working in the retirement home your kids put you in. Do you want them to be able to read, write, and do arithmetic? Or do you want some undereducated slob to be the one dispensing the pills? Self-centered, selfish people like you give Republicans a bad name.

Why does our government feel the need to get involved in schooling anyway? Seriously, where in the constitution does it say they have the right to control our lives like this? Look at what a GREAT job they're doing too - children, not just those coming from the 'ghetto' aren't even able to pass proficiency tests. We've GOT to be one of the least educated countries in the world thanks to our government. Why don't they try allowing us FREEDOM to choose schools for our children, not just settle for the government schools out there. Seriously, I hate government involvement in our lives.
I'm totally okay with paying for my children to go to school.
