advanced DNS, data transfer?

If i link a sub domain to my IP address so that people can connect through my site instead of my actual IP, does that use my sites data transfer?

I set up a ventrilo server on my computer, and set an "A record" so that vent.mysite.com connects to my IP. will that data be sent through my site and use up my allocated data transfer?

Well the lookup in the DNS will be on the server but when they connect to your IP the transfers from there will be from that IP not your main server.
