My computer will not turn on... The power went out this afternoon and my computer is the only thing in the house effected, besides all the clocks being reset. My laptop still works, but it wasn't plugged in to the outlet. I also have a plasma in the same room as the computer, but it is uneffected as well. Any ideas?

If there is a surge, often after a power cut there is too much voltage for a short period the main Power unit on a PC CAN blow.

However, try simply unplugging from mains overnight, some have timed electronic fuses that shot the system down.

If same after this, could indicate a blown PSU, if this happens it CAN sometimes take a motherboard with it

if not sure, take it to a shop for full analysis

Power surges can happen any time, all the time. they are unpredictable. As long as you have a surge protector, though, it shouldn't effect anything. It's likely that this power issue fried your computer. If you simply can't get it to work, call customer service. Believe it or not, they are there to help you.

Power supply probably became fried. This is a common problem with computers not plugged into a surge protector. Just be lucky your laptop was not plugged in.
