You won't know what its like to be a teenager because things were different in the stone age when you were at school. You won't have faced the pressures they face.
Every generation has pressures. Fashions change but people never do and before you say that twenty years is a long time .... not when you're on our end of it it's not.
I don't have children but each of my nieces and nephews have said these things to me and their parents.
We had the pressures of drugs and sex too you know ... I kept well away from them, I didn't even smoke (and still don't, nor drink) but I knew people who did and got themselves into so much trouble.
That's what your parents are trying to keep you from when they lay down rules and hopefully, you'll do the same for your children.
Rant over.

For the umpteenth time, I can't post many questions here if I don't put 'poll' first and even with that, it didn't work once.

Cycle of life. I thought my parents were so un-cool. When my kids say things, I just smile and know I went through the same thing.
There are wonderful moments at every age. I know more now than I did in my teens, but I guess I'll learn more by the time I'm a grandparent.
Life is a journey.... at every age.

But they will discover rock and roll and they will say "mum, I just discovered this awesome band from centuries ago called Radiohead" and I can say I have seen them. Then they will realise that I am about as cool as it gets.

Rant starting: stop putting "poll" in front of the questions. We know what it is. This IS the "Poll & Surveys" category.
ANYWAY, I could care less if my kids (if I ever have any) think I'm uncool. Good for them. =/

Good speech, it is a shame that the people that need to read it either won't or they will ignor it.
