The extremists do anyway.

If they did, we'd all become muslim & live by sharia law.
But, then they'd probably still find another reason to hate & kill; probably the muslims not of arab descent because they aren't "true" muslims.

Not unlike extremists of any other organized religion on this planet.

Oil rich countries fund terrorism, that is a fact.
To break the cycle, find an alternative fuel to replace oil completely in 2 years & leave them all with mass quantities of a product that NO ONE wants or needs to buy.
They will dry up and dissappear in no time.

In the mean time, the moderates, the majority of muslim community, needs to do themselves a HUGE favor & speak out against extremism & terrrorism. Otherwise thier silence would lead people to believe that they approve of al Qaeda's motives & actions.

take a look at the religious in fighting in Iraq for the answer to how it would be like.
They only understand rule by the iron fist and fear. Which is why Saddam and the Taliban stayed in power so long. Give them anything else and they see it as a sign of weakness. Try and treat them as equals and you get your fingers burnt. Hence the problems in the UK, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Only extremists actively seek to.
But they have a large number of sympathisers, because the need to take over is all there in their religion.
In any case, they don't need violence. If present trends continue, the birth rate will do it for them in Europe.

Im a muslim, we have no intention of taking over but if we did Miss World wouldnt just say it, there really would be world peace! Having said that, only the extremists want this coz they see things in a distorted view, to real muslims it doesnt matter what religion you are as long as you lead a good life and are a good person! We can see whats happening and if its hurting another soul then its not Islam or Islamic, Islam means peace!
Im surprised with the answers on here, its this attitude that causes hate!

The Fundamentalists do but most of the others just want to live a comfortable life. The problem is that it just takes a minority to cause major problems. Not all Germans were Nazis but look at what Hitler accomplished with a minority of Germans

no they're used by the New World Order to divide western countries.

Islamist extremism is a creation of the West.

the NWO-run governments bring them in to stir up troubles and make the host people feel hopeless and defenceless in their face.

the truth is your problem is those who allow them in and then encourage radicalism.

e.g. by awarding Rushdie a 'Honor'- think about it- don't be their puppet and take their Islamophobic bait.

The answer is, of course, yes.

Historically, Islam has been spread through genocide and forced conversion, which is still going on today in Africa and southeast Asia.

It is not done by extremists or fringe groups, it is mainstream Islam. It is what the Islamic (un)holy texts demands:

"Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah."
- Qur'an:8:39

"He said, ‘Fight them so that there is no more rebellion, and religion, all of it, is for Allah only. Allah must have no rivals.'"
- Ishaq:324

"Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission."
- Qur'an:9:29

"Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war."
- Qur'an:9:5

Further, this ideal is not restricted to Muslims living outside the US. It is a belief shared by so called "moderate" Muslims within our own borders.

"Islam isn't in America to
be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book
of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only
accepted religion on Earth."
-Omar Ahmad, Founder of CAIR

You haven't been listening.

Direct quotes from AlQaeda and their founder, Bin Laden:

"The operations are under preparation and you will see them in your houses as soon as they are complete."

"If America won't convert on its own, we will eventually become strong enough to topple the government and convert America and her people by force."

There's no misunderstanding there - pretty obvious what their agenda is, wouldn't you agree?
