Don't tap and please don't net them to play with them. The best way I have ever seen to interact with your betta is to use a pencil or pen and move it around the outside of the tank or bowl just touching the glass. They will follow it around and you can sort of play follow the leader with the fish. Believe it or not, different fish will react differently to different colors of pencils, so grab a cheap pack of colored pencils and try it out. You can also allow you betta a little face time with a mirror about once a day for 10-15 minutes. He will flare and strut in front of the mirror to try to frighten away his reflection. It's good exercise for him as long as you don't do it too often or for too long.

Bettas recognize bright colored object. You can try showing a bright colorful feather to the betta and see how it reacts. If it starts puffing up for long time it means the fish is stressed out, so don't do it again. If the fish is just curious you might be able to play with it.

I have a betta and if I want my betta to play around I just wave a bright colored object on the OUTSIDE of the tank. Whatever you do dont tap on the bowl. And if it starts puffing up it means its stressed out. Good luck! :)

you cant really play with a betta fish.... I have had one, and they are pretty to look at but not very affectionate.
If you are really desperate to play with your betta fish, make a hoop or something for it to swim though for put something random in its tank... I dunno =/ Betta fish are just there for you to take care of them

With my old betta i'd give it pony beads [small little colorfull beads but not too small so he couldnt swallow them]
And he would bite them and stuff and chase em to the bottom and try and bring em up again
I also took him to a rodeo, and he rode a horse with me haha. yeah im lame. But he was a cool fish =]

dont bang on the glass it well kill him and u cant play with a fish.

My fish are boring and don't do stuff. I know I sound crool by doing this.. But I play with them buy getting a net.. And scoop them out.. And drop them in.. Then chase them around... And also put the guy under the filter current.. Call me mean but I sure enjoyed it. Plus.. they were from Wal-Mart.

just tap the glass to get its attention. If tapping doesnt work the bang on the glass. If you want to play with it then take it out of the tank and to the park! have fun

are you for real? you bought a fighting fish cause there nice to look @ but you want it to pay attention to you so you cn play with it???? buy yourself a hampster
