I worked for both places. I would say Wachovia, only because Bank of America, at least when I worked there last, charged a flat $5.00 ATM, in addition to your conversion fees. Wachovia doesn't. Other than that, they are pretty much the same.

As far as ease of use of a debit card is concerned, these cards should be equal. You should however, call the bank and let them know that you will be traveling out of the country and to which locations you will be traveling. That way, if there are certain international blocks currently on your debit card, the bank personnel can remove them at least for the amount of time that you will be out of the country. Also, ask the bank if there are any fees for using foreign atms. I know that Bank of America used to charge for getting cash out of any non Bank of American atm, but I'm pretty sure that Wachovia does not. I hope this helps!!

It doesn't matter.
Make sure to call your bank to let them know you will be out of the country. This way, they won't put a fraud hold on your card.

If they are both Visa or both MasterCard, it doesn't matter. If one is Visa and the other is MasterCard, one may be more easily used that the other.
