part 2 ... u2 and depeche may not be in the same kind of music ,it's because of longevity because they are the 2 only 80's band who still sold out a concert in minutes world wide....
elvis is the king, but many consider little richard as the authentic king of rock and roll...
zeppelin, purple and sabbath ?? the 3 heavyweights or metal ..

ZEPPELIN HANDS DOWN oops sorry for yelling...can't help myself but I don't consider Zep as Metal or Deep Purple either
ELVIS...oops, there I go again
I like Depeche mode better than U2 but you're right...different genre

depeche mode, I find every U2 album very derivative and building from the last one while depeche mode like to innovate and take risks.

I'd have to say Little Richard because I see Elvis as a juke box, you can count all the songs he actually wrote on one hand, while Little Richard was a true artist.

And then by far Black Sabbath, not including anything post -Ozzy Sabbath, because that it not Black Sabbath, more of a blasphemous Frankenstein's Monster mish mash of all of the rejects of the 70s trying to compete with the Gods of Rock Tony Iommi, and occasionally Geezer Butler and Bill War since they were in and out so much. But next would be the Zep, but I don't know why, but they just never could capture me as much. I don't know, maybe I'm just a simplistic fool that only like the simple and catchy stuff, not saying that Zep isn't catchy, but sometimes it does get far to intricate. Then putting Deep Purple in here is kind've mean, I mean trying to put them in the same league, much less the same SPORT, is insulting to these aforementioned and praised bands. Deep Purple isn't horrible, but then again all I have is a best of, while I own (Ozzy) Sabbath and Led Zeppelin's entire catalogue

Zeppelin piss all over Sabbath, lets be honest! I love the Sabbath but they're not in the same league. My personal taste is for Little Richard though he didn't have as long a career as old Elvis. And U2 and Depeche Mode are both over rated purveyors of shite.

U2, all day, every day. Depeche Mode is too techno for my tastes.

Little Richard is a true pioneer of rock n' roll. Elvis deserves no credit for what he's done, cuz he stole everything he did from black artists.

Led Zeppelin has a bigger legacy than the other metal bands.

Zeppelin, has its own style of music. You can't really put them in with DP or Sabbath.
DP and Sabbath are both great rock bands but I would go with Sabbath, they have stayed with the times even after losing key members of the band.
Elvis may not be the first but he is the one who brought the attention and started it all.
U2 over Depeche mainly because they have more of a political stand, like it or not, which brings much needed attention to political matters
