Stereotypes.
People often tend to call anyone with a twang or drawl a redneck or hick, but it isn't just you.
People automatically assume the English are so freakin' posh because of their accent and they could be a regular joe like you and me.
I know people that hear an East Indian voice on the phone and automatically think gas station or 7-11 and the truth is that many of those people are doctors, accountants and engineers.

Maybe, because they're ignorant. I'm from the south (Louisiana) and I'm certainly not a hick. But I do treasure and love my Cajun heritage and if anyone denounces me for it, then it becomes their problem. I am what I am by birth and very proud of it. Good luck. 2D
