Do I need to become licensed/registered/certified? Do I need to have my home inspected (if so, by who)? Do I need to take classes? Are there fees involved? Are there limits to how many children of certain ages, or how many hours/day I can watch them? Does SBA help with start-up costs for daycares?

I actually don't live within the city limits, so would I still need to check with the city?

I've worked at a home daycare and also at a daycare center. I think advertising would be a great way to get some good prospects. Newspapers are probably the best. I wouldnt buy any baby equipment until you know for sure the ages of the kids and how many you will have. Some of the parents may want to bring their own items for baby. Make sure that the house is up to standards when parents come to take a look at the place!

You have a great idea, here. First, I would go to the the city hall in your town and ask at the clerks office (or whomever is the licensing agent for your town) and ask them what is required to get a city license (which you must have in order to operate any business enterprise in the city) and go from there. However, I just checked [missouri chid daycare centers] and up came Missouri State Liscense requirements and standards. Your best bet is to start there. Don't get discouraged, and best of luck. Happy trails.

You need to ask those wuestions to the SBA and for licensing requirements you need to contact the Department of Huma Services who does the licensing, they can direct you.
