Conservatives favor anything to increase material profit.

Because conservatives believe the purpose of the tax structure (and -everything- government does) is to help corporations make a profit. If they can make a bigger profit by importing goods from China, than that is 'good' and it should be encouraged. Liberals care more about the standard of living of working people (which is most people) and they worry about the export of jobs, and think the tax system should discourage practices that mean fewer jobs or a lower standard of living for working people.

In other words, both are in favor of profits and capitalism, but liberals see capitalism as a means to an end, the end being a better life for -everyone-. Conservatives see profits as an end in themselves.

Actually, most conservatives do not favor a tax system that reduces taxes for large corporations who buy goods from China.

Conservatives favor a fair tax system where everyone pays taxes on what they spend. Corporations like wal-mart should and do pay import taxes on things they import.

Get your facts straight. Conservatives are NOT in favor of free trade agreements.... although Bush is.

All Political Groups generally don't pay taxes, for one thing, there is no profit! Everything is supposed to be paid out. I believe its the Federal Election Board that requires political groups to file financial papers to see that pay outs are proper. However, they have to disclose donors who give over a certain amount. By filing with the IRS as a Section 501c(4) tax exemption organization, they still don't pay any taxes, but can keep their donor's list private. It is a very murky area.

It's one of those dirty little secrets that republicans don't talk about or admit. If they are against it as I'm reading on here, maybe they should think about a different party. It's amazing how many things republicans say they are against and then vote people into office who support these actions. More is spent on corporate welfare than welfare to Americans, yet all I keep reading is about lazy liberals who have been on welfare for generations. I guess they must support big oil, they get corporate welfare, give their CEO hundreds of millions and charge us three bucks for a gallon of gasoline. Need I say more? http://www.progress.org/corpw30.htm

Because the Republicans, well i should say the Republicans in Congress that were and still are there, are not concerned about the good of the country and its people but rather the good of their investments and the amount of money they have. Its much more profitable to manufacture in China, less laws, no unions and other things. Its a businessman's dream.

Conservatives want everyone to prosper. They do not want the government to have more money to waste. You want to attempt to redistribute wealth and make every one poorer. I am sorry that you have been the victim of propaganda, or maybe you are the spreader of it. I am also sorry that conservatives have not adopted the Fair Tax as the best solution.

40% of our goods are imported from China. Taxing large corporations would just pass on the cost to consumers causing inflation.

Big companies pay for their campaigns.Multinationals own the GOP
Their patriotism is limited to waving flags and accusing liberals of lack of it when they try to save more American soldiers from being killed in an illegal unnecessary lost war.
