The New Adventures of Superman is the first time that Superman, Lois Lane and Perry White had been seen in animated form since they were immortalized in the iconic Superman _____ of the 1940’s.

Radio show. Perry White appeared in the radio serials before being put in the comics.

I don't know if you will regard this as cheating....

Go to the site Supermanthroughtheages. They are restoring the pages of a never-before printed Superman comic, The K-Metal from Krypton. It was supposed to be issue # 8. DC refused to publish the story, because Siegel and Schuster wanted to have Superman reveal his identity to Lois!

Can you imagine? That would have eliminated all the secret identity games and lies, and advanced their relationship so far...! (We had to wait sixty years for that!) And Kryptonite would have been introduced at least ten years earlier!

But, that story also had Perry White introduced by name, and he was Clark's and Lois' boss.

Go read the story (they are not finished restoring the pages yet, but you can see it as they work on it. They have all kinds of old Superman stories on that site, for free.

Serials. The movie serials of the 40's showed them. The TV show was in the 50's.
