First of all, you have an LH surge a day or two before you ovulate. If you started testing right after you period ended, it is probably not time for you to ovulate yet. How long is your cycle? If you have a normal 28 day cycle, then you would probably ovulate around days 13-15. However, most women do not have a perfect 28 day cycle. I have a 45 day cycle and I ovulate on cycle day 31. Anyway, I would try to keep track of how long my cycles are. Usually you need to start using OPK's 16 - 14 days before you period is to start again. This should allow you to catch your ovulation time. Make sure to check into BBT. This could help you keep up with your ovulation and to make sure you actually are ovulating. Some women could have a lh surge, but actually never reach a peak. If your lh surge does not peak, this will cause you not to ovulate. I recommend you purchasing the book Taking Control of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. This will explain all about charting, BBT and so on. I hope this helps you! :]

I started taking the tests 2x day, because my surge doesn't last very long, and when taking the tests 1x a day I was missing it. A positive is really obvious, the line is as dark as the control line or darker. I now take the test at 12, and 8pm. This websight has helped me alot. It has great information.

There are women who do not ovulate, and need help from a specialist. I would give it some more time though. You could just be ovulating late in this cycle. Ovulation can be thrown off by a variety of things. Sometimes I ovulate on day 14, sometime on day 22. Because of these tests I always know when to expect my period now, since it's so irregular. I have a 12 day luteal phase, so I know that 12 days after I ovulate I can expect a period. We're trying for baby #2, and this has helped me so I'm not thinking my period is late when it's not.

Your LH surge generally won't even last for 2 days. My use of ovulation test strips and charting led me to believe that mine actually lasts less than 18 hours. Are you sure you're interpreting the strips correctly? You will ALWAYS see two lines, the test line and the control line. The test line must be darker than the control line for it to be positive. See, you will always have some luteinizing hormones (LH) in varying amounts present before your ovulation. So the test line will appear and sometimes even look pretty dark. But it's not the SURGE unless the test line is darker than the control line.

The female body produces something called luteinizing hormone (LH.) It is present in the urine almost all the time, but increases significantly-- surges-- about 12-36 hours before ovulation. An OPK detects LH in your urine and gives you a positive result when it detects this surge. The test line MUST be VERY Dark to be positive.

There are some women that get their period each month and still do not ovulate. I would wait a few days and start testing the OPK from CD14 and on. I would also check with an ovualtion calendar to see when you're supposed to ovulate. It depends on how long your cycles are each month. I hope you've been tracking your cycles. Good luck!

i have a 28 day cycle and i got a positive OPK on CD 18. Keep using the kits and if you go a whole month w/o getting a positive, try switiching test brands. i started out with Answer, never got a positive. I went out and got ClearBlue Easy, tested 2 hours after the Answer test, and it was positive. Don't lose faith! You could ovulate later than you think, or it could be the brand.

Yes, there are women that don't ovulate. But I wouldn't worry yet.

By my count, you are on Day 14 or Day 15 of your cycle--depending on how long your cycle is, you may just not have hit your surge yet. Just keep trying.

Your best bet would be to learn about your bodys cycles and signs of ovulation. Those tests are expensive and you have to time them right u=in order to get your ovulation date. Try the book Getting Pregnant Naturally... I used it for my first baby, and got pregnant on the first try! Good Luck!
