lets try again-->im 16 & i bought my own cell phone and plan because they wouldnt get me one.
i have a job & buy alot of my own things including hair & food supplies & my own clothes.
my parents havent taken away the phone because they dont know i have it yet. i was just asking to see if it would ok to start using it around them without the risk of it being taken away.
i bought a prepaid phone so there isnt really a contract. i just have to pay my monthly plan charge to get my minutes by "topping up" {as they call it}
they didnt want me to hav ea cell phone because they thought i would lose it. i had i for about 1 year now & havent lost it.
im not spoiled {if i was i wouldnt have to worry about getting a phone taken away} & if i get it taken away im not going to waste money on a lawyer to get it back. thats gay.

First of all, using the word "gay" to describe something negative or stupid is WRONG. You need to stop that before it gets you in legal trouble. Gay means happy, fyi. Secondly, it's perfectly legal for your parents to take your phone if you're under 18. You are a minor under their care, and you all have responsibilities. Theirs is to punish you if you do something wrong. So be honest, tell them you have it, and don't do bad things.

Until you are of legal age, and considered an adult, you cannot legally enter into any type of a purchase without parental permission.

You have lied and are continuing to lie to your parents, not a great way to build trust.

You are commenting about hiring a lawyer, or not hiring a lawyer as the case may be. You do sound like a self-centered young person who enjoys breaking the rules.

You will remember this in a few years, when you need your parents support and trust about another issue; and they cannot trust you enough to give it.

I'm not a lawyer but if you paid for it with your money it's your private property. If your parents take it away from you that is called theft and you have every right to file a police report. You don't always have to pay a lawyer. You can go to legal aid.
If you pay for your own hair products, food and clothes I agree that you are far from spoiled.
Just to play it safe don't let them know you have it. Turn it off before they get home.

I could write a lot. But before you get a criminal record for petty food theft, ill inform you that there are plenty of places in the us to get free food, or food stamps, if that really is a percieved issue to you leaving. Contact a DPSS. Also dont let your dad calling you stupid bring you down. Lay off the drugs and improve your grades, then get the hell outta there.

You are a minor. They can take your phone. Perhaps they took it away because you behave in an immature manner. Read your own message, particularly the end. On the brights side, 18 isn't far off.

Legally, your sunk. Your parents can take your cell phone away just because they don't think a teenager should have one. If you want to keep your phone, I suggest you keep it hidden until you are 18. Untill then, your parents can do whatever they want (except for abuse) with you and your things no matter who bought them.

If you're under 18, yes they can. Techncially, you can't even buy the phone yourself because you aren't old enough to legally enter into the service contract.
