I was wondering if i could make a flame thrower for my 1995 gmc sonoma 2.2L truck for show but i don't know if it will work because it has a catalytic converter and i don't what to take off the catalytic converter. Plus i was wondering if just hooking a switch, wires, and sparkplug to the battery will work because i also don't want to cut out the spark in a cylinder because it does more damage too the engine. thank you.

That's one of the stupidest things I've heard.
Spend your time and money on something productive.

First of all, let me tell you that it is illegal. It is also dangerous.

With that being said, you will need a 12V ignition coil, spark plug, and some people will use a solenoid with a nozzle and hook up a tank of propane. The coil and the solenoid are wired to a switch, some even use 2 switches in series. One to enable the circuit and another switch that is made when the gas pedal is pushed to the floor.

That's one way to do it. I still don't think you should do it. But it's your life. good luck.

Hmm... Well it technically is illagal to have any spark plugs or fuel injectors in the exhaust. I personally think flamethrowers are cool, but depending on the setup, will much your gas (costing $) and costs $ to setup to begin with. Just make sure to temporarily remove it when going in for your yearly inspection, and try to avoid using your flame thrower in front of a nearby officer.

Flame Thrower, interesting. In a newer vehicle this is a difficult process. If I recall, you can purchase a bolt on kit that includes all the hardware you will need. It is self contained and doesn't alter any of the cars functions. There is always the chance of setting your car on fire, but it looks cool. Look at www.summitracing.com they may still have it. Or take a few and search the net.

It depends on which state you live in. I know from personal experience that they are ILLEGAL in California. Check your local laws before installing.
