ooh nice one. I love these what ifs.
So, to clarify, we are talking about Patton's US Third Army up to strength as in it's late 1944 TO & E, but which of Rommel's commands are we talking about? He led the 7th Panzer Division in the conquest of the low countries in 1940, but I think thats a bit of a comparitivly weak outfit to allie up with US 3rd Army? Shall we say he had he 1941 Afrika Korps? Make it a little fairer.
Another thing that would count would be who was the Supreme Hypothetical Commander? IF you had Hitler in charge, as in the real Barbarrosa, you could imagine he would mess it up eventually even if he'd had Stormin Norman and the whole of the 1991 Gulf Was Coalition!
I think the two units would have got to Moscow in 1941. Two tough well equipped veteran units driven on by hard charging Generals. Would it have been enough? Not really. If Stalin hasd moved his government and as much of his industry basck as far east as he could, the invasion would have withered on the vine as logistical realities came in to play along with the Winter and the following big thaw.
When a friend of mine graduated from the UK Military Acadamy, Sandhurst, an old General gave him three bits advice - Never get involved in the Balkans, Don't March on Moscow, and never trust your luggage to the RAF

Rommel alone CAN defeat the T-34 hordes just like what he did to the Crusaders, also he has the same weakness too, numerical disadvantage and without putting minefield across the vast Russian steppes like what he did to Libyan desert it will be a tough game, finally, Stalingrad & Leningrad can hold and wear "Winter fox" out due to urban warfare.
Patton is a great attacking general but I doubt his defensive capabilities. A Gen. Patton commanding Panzers is a very different Patton, so I cannot answer that completly.
If Patton is using Shermans... then it will be a very difficult task, assuming that both sides have numbers probably Shermans got a bit larger numbers but T-34s can disable them in one shot.

On whose side? If Patton was with the Russians, he probably would've won. Rommel's involvement would've been over shadowed by that Bohemian Corporal's interference, look what happened to Guderian and Mainstein.

you probable might desire to return to locate what the third Reich substitute into – there isn't any longer a useful, direct assessment to be made. EDIT: Patton did no longer defeat the Afrika Korps – no one with any wisdom of background could declare that. The German third military substitute into disbanded after collaborating interior the invasion of Poland – the two did no longer exist simultaneously.
