It would have to be Gone With the Wind, it's box office has never been matched. It is a truly great movie.

My all time favourite is "THE GODFATHER"

The Godfather is a 1972 crime film based on the novel of the same name by Mario Puzo and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with screenplay by Puzo and Coppola. The film stars Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and James Caan. The story spans ten years from late 1945 to 1955 and chronicles the life of the Corleone Mafia family.

The Godfather has been ranked as the second best American film in history by the American Film Institute and is the top movie on the Internet Movie Database's Top 250 list. It is also the number one movie on Metacritic's top 100 list, and #1 on the Rotten Tomatoes all-time best list.

Two sequels followed, The Godfather Part II in 1974 and The Godfather Part III in 1990.

I, once again, have to say, "The Great Gatsby," with Sam Waterston, Mia Farrow and Robert Redford. Romance, action, crime, secrets, rich vs. poor--there's so much in that movie--which of course came from the book.

As alternates--since some people hate Gatsby--having to read it in school:

"Mr. Holland's Opus"
"Finding Forrester"
"Good Will Hunting"
"The Deer Hunter"
"The Bridges of Madison County"
