My pump is broken. How do I siphon water from my flagstone backyard patio to the front driveway? I guess I will use a waterhose. Do you just suck on it to get it started, or do you have to suck it till it almost reaches your mouth? Thanks.

An easy way is to fill the hose from the faucet and have a helper plug one end while you plug the other. With the hose plugged, your helper puts one end into your patio 'pond' and you take the other end to a lower spot. Call to your helper to open the hose, then you do likewise. The water should start to flow. The weight of the water on the low end will pull more water behind it in the vacuum that is created. All you need to do is keep the pond end low enough that no air gets in the line, and the other end lower than your pond end.

Just need to get the water past the high point, then it will start to siphon on its own.
