A symbol of love and hope that is used by people all over the world. It started to become big with the hippies avoiding the Vietnam war, and protesting it. Then, it became a sign of hope for the world. In America it is used as a "spread the love" symbol when the index finger and middle finger is lifted in pictures. Or "peace out" when the "peace" leaves the room. (that would be the person "peace out"ing.
