I just got new tires in Dec. and I am looking into getting new rims because the ones on there are old, scratched and missing 2 of 4 lug covers. They are going on my '97 Honda Accord EX.

Randy the tire shop manager needs to learn his craft. If he used the resources that should be readily available to him and looked up the approved rim widths for a P195/60R15 tire (available in any tire manufacturers product catalog) he would find that any wheel from 5.5 to 7.0 inches wide is just dandy.

Your 6.5-inch wheels in fact are probably perfect for this size, providing plenty of width for good sidewall stability without going too crazy.

Rim with for that tire should be 5.5. The one you have is wider. More for a 215/60R15 or a 225/60R15 tire. There will be too much sidewall pressure, if you can get them to seat up properly. Not a good choice.

R15 means 15 inch 15x6.5 is a 15 inch tire so it will fit on a 15inch rim.All you are changing is the width of the tire so they should fit but might rub on the inner fender.
