"Unselfish" is dead!

Most of the time I tend to be unselfish, but I'm not a Marter in that sense. I rather give to others freely, and rarely ask for things in return. But I'm also one that believes in "treat others as you wish to be treated" so that would be a less than honorable thought for giving all of the time and never wanting anything, from anyone, at anytime. I do want things, but it's much more full filling to give and watch someone else enjoy.
Just habit for me!

It should be completely unselfish. Because then you have to ask yourself, did you do it in the first place to get something in return? If you did it because you just wanted to do it, then that's more meaningful and should be more satisfying to you. Otherwise, you'd be selfish for always expecting something in return. It basically means you didn't do it for the right reasons. :) I hoped this helped.

no the act is unselfish because to give is a gift and you have to be not only a good giver but a good reciever as well. but one can not expect to recieve back because your dealing with a lot of different cultures and beliefs and it also eliminates stress of being mad that they didn't recpracate.

i think...yes...but its not "want"...its more like "expectation".
a "thank-you" would 'expect' a "welcome", "a gift" would 'expect' a "thank you", "friendship" would 'expect' "loyalty", "money" would 'expect' "a smile", "a tear" and sometimes "an angry look", "a help" would 'expect' a "smile", a "thank you", a "hug" and a "handshake". And i think all these things won't make the act look selfish in anyway, somethings which is got or expected in return, increases the emotional value attached to the act. Which directly touches the heart....

Well, I try to be unselfish, but I get pretty annoyed if my generousity is repaid in some way. For example, I'll buy my sister's movie ticket for her, but she needs to offer to buy snacks, drinks or do something for me later.

Well my friend, you can ask this question millions of times but you will only get peoples guesses you will never get a true answer. That is because no man knows when Jesus will return, Jesus himself doesn't even know, only God the Father knows when he will send his son back to Earth to save us all. :)

No i don't i do however sometimes find my self disappointed when i have always stood by a friend and been loyal and then when i really need someone to "have my back" the same friend does not show the same solidarity in return....
