is that the air conditioner or generator? I'm talking about the thing with vents on it.

That is the AC. Some folks have storage containers up there also. The generator is usually located in a compartment in the lower portion of the RV.

The AC unit for sure, and about the generator, the generator is mount on the drive side in the rear with a exhaust pipe hanging down to heavy for the top.

AC unit generators are normally in a compartment on the front or the back with an exhaust.
