WW-One was called 'The Great War' up to and including the end of WW-Two, from when it was decided to rename as World War One 1914-1919 and World War Two 1939-1945.

Please note that World War One did not end until 1919 but is nearly always quoted as 1918 for some reason. Most memorials of the Great War put the start as 1914 and the finish as 1919.
