he needs to see another doctor. in order to get better, your body need nutrients.
have him eat some things that will be easy on his stomach like jello or soup.

He should call the doctor to clarify what was meant, doesn't sound right unless he is in hospital with IV feeding. Was it only certain foods? Was it 10 days or 10 hours?

I doubt any doctor would tell him not to eat for ten days. He probably has a pelptic ulcer. This is a sore in his stomach.When you eat acid is released in you stomach which irratated the sore.Look up the Japanese diet for a Pelptic Ulcer.

I would say he needs a a second opinion.I mean, if you don't eat for ten straight days, that is not good for your body, he wouldn't have any energy to do anything, so definitely see a DIFFERENT doctor!

Maybe your doctor meant not to eat solid food. Give him soup...nothing will happen to him as long as he keeps drinking water.

not eating is impossible. try to eat light food like soupy stuff.
