All this person wants to know is if the betta can live in the goldfish tank WATER, after the goldfish are moved out.. Personally I wouldn't do it. Give Mr. Betta new water. He'll thank ya for it.

NO don't do this unless you want to kill the betta, goldfish are COLDWATER fish..whereas Bettas are TROPICAL fish..this means they need heat..put a betta in a coldwater tank..and automatically it will have a terrifyingly dangerous effect. The betta will go into fit..and slow down completely.
About the FIGHTING FISH PART..thats a LOAD of nonsense...if you REALLY knew about bettas..you'd know they only attack other MALE BETTAS not other types..they're VERY friend;y fish really..so go put that old urban myth down the loo and only talk about what you KNOW!
You also said about having a 10gal tank...well..Bettas need at least a 5gal tank to live suffintiently ...and with (lets say) 2 goldfish; which are VERY MESSY..they betta will easily grow ill.
DON'T put a betta with the goldfish..or you'll regret losing such a beautiful and under-rated creature as a betta.
Hope that helps...and sorry for being so harsh..but its the truth.

No, because bettas are tropical fish and do better at 76-78 F while goldfish are cold water fish and do better at 70.
I do have friends who have male bettas in with other fish in large tanks. They've had less problems with the bettas picking on other fish than the other fish nipping at the betta's fins. So some can live with other fish, just only one male betta at a time. Girls can be kept in groups, and that's what I have in my 10 gallon tank- three girl bettas.

When you get your bigger tank, than it would be OK to add your Betta. But i would chance most of the water. Than add him. Betta's. Can live with out a heater. I have had mind for a while now with out a heater and he is doing great. But if he was in a 10 gallon tank I would get a heater for him. So To answer your ?
WHEN YOUR GOLDFISH'S ARE IN THERE BIGGER TANK DO A GOOD WATER CHANCE AND ADD YOU BETTA

the betta and gold fish should get along, betta is a top tank fish where gold fish hang out around the middle/bottom. The only major problem you will have its you tanks chemical balance. A gold fish gives off high amonnia and that could kill your betta or make him feel lifeless. It is possible but you would have to keep you tank a cleaning schedule and do chemical test strips religiously.
good luck with you water friends.

male bettas are also known as fighting fish. don't add the betta in with the goldfish unless you want dead goldfish.
also, a good guideline for what size tank you need is 1 gallon per inch of fish (10 gallons= 10 1 inch fish)

Except for regular maintenance, you shouldn't have any problems. Just check the water chemistry before putting him into his new tank. It's good that you want to make sure first. As long as the water parameters are fine and you acclimate your betta to the tank properly, you shouldn't have any problems. Assuming you have kept up with good maintenance (which sounds like you have) this could be immediately. If you need to do a water change first or allow excess ammonia and nitrate to cycle through for a few days then you'll know that from testing the water.

Just vacuum the gravel so it sucks out 30% of the water, then make sure your heater is to the right temperature. It is already cycled, so you could put the Betta in whenever you get the water to about 75+ degrees...

in most cases with bettas and other fish i havent seen a problem
but if the fish your putting with it is a fin nipper i strongly advise not two
and if its a common goldfish i think i might harass your betta if it has a long tale
but if its a fancy i have no clue
