I'm starting to think yes, and that race pimps like Sharpton, Jackson and the pandering politicians who think blacks can't succeed without the nanny hand of government are relics of a bygone era more than anything else.

This is a loaded question. Many people have long opposed affirmative action...but for the wrong reasons. In general biogts have opposed affirmative action cause, well, they hate black people. But your point (whether well-intentioned or malignant) is well-taken. As ultimately carried out, affirmative action had the opposite of its intended effect. Following the advent of affirmative action policies, successful blacks came to be viewed as inferior, affirmative action scabs. It completely invalidated any genuine success.
