I've seen them at PetSmart but they want $80.00 for one.
Are there cheaper ones that do a good job.
Also where?

What I should have said was battery operated.
Sorry about the confusion.

I have a plastic manual one but it doesn't work good.

Personnally I don't like the automated ones, they need lots of batteries and don't do the job as well as a manual siphon
but that's just my personnal opinion

hope that helps
Good luck

I've seen them for a lot less at meijer but don't know if you have one in your area.

Personally, I think the standard "plastic ones" (as you put it) do a much better job unless you have a very small area to clean. If you have at least a 10 gallon tank, you might want to look at the different types of "plastic" vacuums available.
