i swim alot in the summer. my parents are really big on activity, too. i dont really want to learn how to use a tampon but my mom gets mad because i swim so much and i can't swim with a pad. she wants me to use a tampon so i can stay active and all that crap. how do i get her off my case, or should i just learn to use the tampon?

I don't use tampons for hygenic reasons. I feel pads are safer. Talk to you mother about it if you feel uncomfortable using tampons. No one should make you if you don't want to that badly, especially your mother. She should feel your concerns. If she really wants you to stay that active and the whole world will end if you aren't swimming for 5 days a month, well, ask her if you could go on a birth control pill because they shorten your periods and make them come less frequently.

Tampons are great. If you choose to learn how to use them you will love it. You won't have to worry about the pad any more. So, give it a try. Best of luck :]

If you plan on swimming you NEED to use a tampon while on your period.
Don't use pads in the water, that's just ridiculous and unneeded, as it will soak up the water and not the menstrual flow.

I like tampons better than pads, they are not as messy and easy to insert and take out, try the platex sport, for active people. Good luck

If you don't want to use a tampon, don't.
Personally I prefer tampons over pads, and I refuse to use pads. If I can refuse to use pads, you can refuse to use tampons.
Your Mom will survive if you don't do what she wants you to, and she can't force you to use a tampon.

I'd just use a tampon, but it's really up to you, and what you're comfortable with. Try getting a small pack of the Playtex, with the plastic applicators, and see how you like it.

since u swim it is better for u to use a tampoon coz using a pad while swim makes u uncomfortable if u r comfortable with pad convince your mom coz u must be comfortable with ur things

just learn. i was like you when i first learned, i didn't want to. but finally i decided i was missing out on too much by not using them, so i just did it. trust me, you'll be glad you did! no more yucky pads, no worrying constantly about having an "accident" and a ruined pair of shorts. i could play all my sports much more comfortably. it was very worth it!
