Apparently non of ya'll have ever seen Charlie Daniels play live! Good Heavens he was amazing. No disrespect intended but especially for a man his age and weight. One year I saw Charlie,Randy Travis, George Straight, and Alan Jackson within a few days of each other, and I have to admit the old man had it all over the young studs.

since the question is "performer" I have to say that Garth Brooks definitely rates up there as "performer" I also think that Roy Clark was a great performer. His instrumental abilities along with his facial expressions...he didn't just sing..he was definitely a "performer"

I can list four of the top performes with one name..."The Highwayman" which was "Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings & Kris Kristofferson"...that cover four legends with one choice, but don't forget "Merle Haggard" who performed on a few songs!

Great answers I see many wonderful country singers. They are worthy to be one of the best, but Johnny Cash is the man. Its a shame we can only pick one.
