The ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian (etc) pantheons could have been made up of technologically superior extra-terrestrial races who thought that a time in Earth's history that was so primitive that they didn't have an efficient method of mass communication would be a good time to be open about their existance .....

In the knowledge that by the time even the printing press rolled around, their exploits would have been consigned to legend.

Is it Scientology? I wouldn't know I've never read a book by that old science fiction author/rascal.

With an IQ of around 136, I'm hardly a retard.

Those mouldy old ruins have lasted 2,000-4,000 years. Imagine how glorious they were when they were first built and can we honestly say that anything we are building today will be around half as long as that?

a) they're not ancient and b) the builders are in reality our contemporaries
... and that's what they did, they were artisans and intellectuals and they worked with their hands and their heads.

An interesting book to read to give you a perspective about "extra-terrestrial" bothering with little old earth is Bill Bryon's "A Short History of Nearly Everything".

It's possible. They have found a fossilized shoe print in a rock layer analyzed to be over a billion years old. You can see the seam line where the shoe was stitched around the soul. That doesn't suggest to me extra-terrestrial but it does suggest that some strange unexplained things have happened in the past.

Yes. I also find it likely that if this were the case, they could still walk among us... just in better disguise.
