Believe it or not, people will enjoy the "staple" of party music; Macarena, Electric Slide, Chicken Dance, Achy Breaky Heart. Any songs that started dance trends at parties will be well received. If you have some really old folk there, get some big band music, some disco music for the mid age folks, and maybe some light rock and hip-hop for the younger crowd. Heavy metal and rap will turn off the older folks, so I would avoid it.
