There is no greater feeling that working for yourself. I have been there and done that and have the T-shirts to prove it.

Working for yourself can prove to be one of the most satisfying experiences you could ever have. YOU are responsible for your own success. You do well, you eat steak. You do poorly, you eat rice. YOU are the person YOU have to answer to and look at in the mirror each morning.

If you excel at your trade, there is no reason why you couldnt consider opening your own business. There are many state and local agencies that can help you get set up with the proper business licenses and can guide you along the way. More specifically, you can contact your state's Dept of Commerce and seek information about technology development centers and even state financed incubator loans for small start up businesses. Also, your community colleges will work with you as well.

If and when you decide to move forward, I'd be happy to assist!!

Good Luck!!

Yes, it is better to be in business for yourself, but you must first determine what your goals are for starting a business or working for yourself. If this is something that you are not ready to do, then don't do it. On the other hand, if you have given this some serious thought and feel you are ready to take that step, listen to someone who has the level of success you desire. If your friend does not have these qualifications, don't listen to them. You become who you listen to, so choose your advisors carefully.

To your success!

It takes more that being good at what to you to start your own business. The real key is motivation.

Don't listen to them. Make up your own mind.
