I tried a spray-on cleaner, and now have a ring. It zips off, and I'd like to throw it in the washer w/ mild soap - is that going to ruin it?

Wash it in the gentle cycle, cold water and DO NOT put it in the dryer. Dry it flat and try to stretch it while it's drying. Actually, try to put it back on the cushion while it is still a little damp.

In other words it will probably shrink at least a little and the threads will ravel so be prepared to trim them off with scissors.

AND, when it's dry, Spray it with a Scotch-guard(spelling?)

Without knowing the material, and care instructions its hard to say. But I probably would, I would put it inside out, zip it up, wash it on cold and gentle, If you have one of those mesh laundry bags, I would use that to wash it in. Actually if not, I heared of people washing things in a pillow case closed with safety pins (Or maybe tied closed). I wouldnt put it in the dryer, unless air dry for a few minutes. Good luck!
