No, as long as it's tasteful. Nothing cool about disrespecting the dead.

Wearing black in mourning dates back to an old superstition that if you are dressed in it, the 'ghosts' can't see you. The same as the custom of covering mirrors in the wake so they can't see themselves.

not at all. I wore a bright pink shirt to my brothers funeral and my cousin showed up in the same shirt! funerals are more about remembering someones life not who is wearing what.

Yes. My aunt died in April and I think she would have been sad to see us wear black. She wanted us to have a party. She wanted us to celebrate her life, not mourn. So, in keeping with that I wore a white blouse and a nice blue skirt. My mom wore peach. Also, I'm not really into black. It's okay but I think it can be very depressing and that goes against my soul.

Not necessarily, lots of people nowadays state that they don't want their funeral to be a sombre affair.

not necessarily. I think it is more important to be there than to be wearing black. although a dark color is best.

No, not at all. You can wear anything as long as it is appropriate for church and is not flashy (preferably something dark).
