If you have a family share plan--you are alloted so many anytime minutes to use between three of you. So, you have to check your minutes used-- often to make sure you don't go over. I would check my minutes before using the phone if I was you to make sure you have minutes left & how many.
Also, if you have a family plan among three of you-- you should be able to call each other and receive calls from each other without using your minutes or being charged for them.
I think the reason you went over your minutes is because you used more than you were alloted according to the plan you have. If you need more anytime minutes--you'll have to call Verizon and pay for a larger plan.
I can't believe you're getting Verizon share plan with three people for $39.95 a month. If I was you, I would telephone Verizon Customer Service and ask what plan you are on or contact www.verizon.com and read their questions and answers about phone packages.

39.99 on a 3 Family share plan is cheap. To answer your question. Verizon to Verizon customers are free and don't count against your peak minutes. However make sure you or somebody Else on you plan isn't surfing the web or going to Get it Nows because that goes against your minutes also. Or the other people could be talking to non Verizon customers. Ask customer service for a detail bill or visit there web site after your bill has already been printed and see for yourself why your bill is saying that your account has exceeded your minutes. If your bill isn't due yet change your plan to a bigger one and have it past dated to the beginning of your bill cycle to undo you minute overage, that is if you still can, so you don't have to pay for each additional minute that you have gone over.

All verizon calls to other verizon numbers should be free. Now you could have gone over your out of network plan minutes and then you will have to pay for those calls. You can check your minutes at www.verizonwirelsess.com click on my accounts (if you have one) If you dont sign up for my accounts and you can check minutes used (after your billing cycle has ended) If you see a problem call verizon and let them know. They may be able to help you with the problem. Dont forget you are sharing your minutes with 2 other people and they may have made more call than you.

If you went over that is like .45 cents a minute by the 240 minutes.
sorry to say you are going to be very upset with your bill.
VZ calls are free in the network. The other calls were not to the network.
