In India intelligence agents are involved in all sort of professional jobs as they have to be informed about the general information regarding any activity that they may gather at any public place where any anti social or anti national guys meet or plan out any such activity that can cause public & national harm. Next time you find any beggar or cobbler or fruit seller or car mechanic on street be careful he might be an intelligence agent working in cover of these professional. This fact told to me by intelligence agents themselves many years back.

The mantra is not to get noticed. A R&AW officer maybe anything, from a domestic help/servant to shopkeeper to computer professional. Its called a "cover" which is used to avoid attracting attention. So its at times difficult to make out who the officers are as they mix up wid the crowd

As much as i know there job is to search for information , take decisions and alert the government about any upcoming threat.
Our RAW might seem useless but it is doing a great job.(of course in secret)
